SHCF – Chapter 1

I have a childhood friend. She was a girl with long and beautiful silver hair, which was rare in Japan. Her face was very cute, and I wanted to get along with her, but for some reason, those around me didn’t feel the same.

“Your hair’s different from ours, isn’t it?” (Kid)

That was the kind of thinking that comes from being a kid—anyone who is different had to be excluded.

“Hey, cut it out. She doesn’t like it.” (Yuuto)

When I saw that, I stepped in and drove the bullies away.

Surprisingly, they left rather quickly and headed off somewhere else.

“Thanks, but you didn’t have to do that.” (Girl)

She thanked me, but for some reason, her words rubbed me the wrong way. After that, I stopped helping her when she was being bullied.

From then on, she was constantly bullied for one reason or another—her hair color, being arrogant, pretty much anything they could use

Then one day—

“I don’t like the color of your hair.” (Kid)

They tried to cut her hair with scissors.

“Stop! Don’t cut my hair!” (Yuuka)

The girl struggled, but several of them had her pinned down.

Seeing that, I couldn’t hold back anymore, so I punched the one holding the scissors.

“Cut it out! Ganging up on a girl just to bully her—and now you’re even trying to cut her hair?” (Yuuka)

I lunged at one of the boys and struck the one with the scissors hard enough to knock him away.

Seeing their friend get hit, the boys who had been holding the girl ran off all at once. The one I punched was on the verge of tears.

“You… how dare you hit me!” (Kid)

His eyes was burning with anger.

“This time you’ve gone too far. You’re lucky it didn’t get worse.” (Yuuto)

I let out a sigh as I said it.

“I’ll never forgive you!” (Kid)

The boy came charging at me, swinging the scissors wildly.

“Stop it, that’s dangerous!” (Yuuto)

I moved to stop him and grabbed his wrist, but the tip of the scissors grazed my cheek.

Blood started to trickle from the cut, and the boy, frightened by the sight of blood, ran away.

As for the girl—

“You’re bleeding—uwaaah!” (Yuuka)

—she burst into tears.

“It’s okay. It’s just a graze.” (Yuuto)

I gave her a soft smile to reassure her.

“T-Thank you… I was so scared…” (Yuuka)

She cried loudly, clinging to me until the teachers arrived and treated my wound.

And for the entire duration, she stayed pressed against my back and didn’t let go.

TL Notes:

Thanks for reading!

So, this is the new series I was talking about. I’m a sucker for childhood friend stories and this is right up my alley.

I already read all of the chapters, and to summarize the series, it’s a slice-of-life romance story about the MC doting on his childhood friend while everyone around them spits out sugar and wonders why they aren’t dating yet. The two of them give off so much childhood friend energy that MC would naturally give Yuuka headpats, let her sit on his lap, carry her, etc. I also like how to story starts from the moment they met.

The funny thing is that the thing about the love letter in the synopsis doesn’t happen until around chapter 60, and yes, I’m not joking. So just enjoy the journey, each chapter is pretty short, so I’ll try to update daily.
