SHCF – Chapter 19

While carrying Yuuka on my back, I arrived at the shopping street.

Yuuka rubbed her cheek against mine.

Then, we arrived at the greengrocer we were aiming for.

“Oh—Yuuto, Yuuka-chan, welcome! What do you need today?” (Greengrocer)

The greengrocer old man greeted us.

“Old man, give me some onions.” (Yuuto)

“Sure thing, I’ll get them ready right away.” (Greengrocer)

The old man went into the back of the shop.

“Yuuka, can you get down now?” (Yuuto)

I asked Yuuka, but—

“No. I want you to keep holding me.” (Yuuka)

She clung to me as she said that.

“Ohoho, you’re really showing off, huh? This old man might end up with diabetes at this rate.” (Greengrocer)

The old man said that as he came out from the back of the store.

“She got scared because some flashy guy was staring at her from afar, so we ended up like this.” (Yuuto)

I told him about what had happened earlier.

“I see… well, from what I’m hearing, I don’t think you have to worry. If that guy was going to do something, he probably would’ve done it already.” (Greengrocer)

Hearing the old man’s words, I thought that it made sense.

“Well, whatever happens, I’ll protect Yuuka.” (Yuuto)

The moment I said that, Yuuka began patting my head.

“Hey now, don’t get all lovey-dovey in public—” (Greengrocer)

The old man said that while watching us.

We chatted for a little while, but since time was getting on—

“Old man, I still have some more shopping to do, so we’ll be going now.” (Yuuto)

I let him know we had more errands to run.

“I see. Come by again, Yuuka-chan too.” (Greengrocer)

With that, we parted ways.

From here on, Yuuka got down, walked with me, while carrying the onions.

After a short walk, we arrived at the butcher shop.

“Auntie, I need some minced meat.” (Yuuto)

I said that as I entered.

“Yuuto-chan, Yuuka-chan, welcome. Minced meat, right? Just a moment.” (Auntie)

With that, the lady began preparing the mince.

“Could it be… you’re making hamburger steak today?” (Auntie)

Apparently, she guessed based on the onions Yuuka was holding.

“That’s right! I’m going to make hamburger steak for Yuuto!” (Yuuka)

Once again, Yuuka said proudly while puffing out her chest.

“Is that so? Yuuto, you lucky boy. Getting to eat homemade food from such a cute childhood friend.” (Auntie)

The lady teased me with a grin.

“Yeah, I think so too… She might be too good for me, honestly.” (Yuuto)

As I said that—

“I only cook for Yuuto, my dad, mom, and friends, okay? But the one I want to cook for most is Yuuto.” (Yuuka)

Yuuka said that and hugged me from the front.

As I held her and patted her head, she looked incredibly happy.

“These kids should just get married already. This space is so sweet, it feels like I’m watching newlyweds make out—I’m gonna start vomiting sugar.” (Auntie)

Somehow, the auntie’s words were drowned out by our flirtatiousness.
