SHCF – Chapter 34

The day after we bought Yuuka’s pajamas, we headed to school, and homeroom started.

“Now, we’re going to do a seat change. Yesterday, sensei here worked hard to prepare this lottery to decide the seats. Boys, please draw from the right side; girls, from the left side. Also, once you draw, exchanging your lottery ticket will be invalid, so please keep that in mind.” (Lia)

Everyone listened to Lia-sensei’s explanation and instructions, then answered all at once with a “Yes!”

First, we drew the lots, then the teacher wrote numbers randomly on the blackboard.

As of right now, a rock-paper-scissors match would be held between the person at the farthest window side and the person at the classroom entrance blackboard side, and the winner would draw first.

After a fair rock-paper-scissors match, the window side won, so they started drawing tickets in order. Since I was right in the middle, it didn’t matter which side I started from, so that was fine.

Kouhei was on the window side, so he got to draw immediately and had an extremely excited look on his face.

Meanwhile, Yuuka and Kaori were on the hallway side, so they looked a little disappointed.

Then my turn came, and the number I drew was 20. Since there were 48 people in our class, I thought I’d draw a number somewhere in the middle.

Next was Kaori’s turn, and she drew her number quickly.

Right after, Yuuka drew her number, but before drawing, she seemed to have made some sort of wish, then pulled her lot.

After everyone finished drawing their lots, sensei announced the results.

One after another, the numbers were written down, and I had managed to get the very last seat by the window.

Then the moving started, and around me, to my surprise, Kouhei was sitting right in front of me, and Kaori was diagonally in front.

Right beside me was Yuuka, who was smiling brightly. I hadn’t expected the whole group from middle school to end up together, so I was really surprised.

“I never thought we’d all end up this close,” (Kouhei)

“Well, it’s probably because of our good behavior.” (Kaori)

Yuuka kept holding my hand the whole time, looking very happy.

Seeing that, the people around us were shedding tears and silently praying.

“To be able to witness something so precious this close… I have no regrets,” (Classmate)

Then the teacher gave us another announcement.

“For the next orientation, this will be your group of six, so please get along well.” (Lia)

Besides the four of us, the other two were a very serious-looking boy and a super delinquent blonde girl.
