The next day, Yuuka went to school, having pushed past my parents’ objections.
“If you’re really not feeling well, make sure to tell me right away, okay?” (Yuuto)
I was nervous with worry.
“I’m fine, it’s not that bad. More than that, just thinking someone might take my Yuuto away kept me up all night.” (Yuuka)
Yuuka clung to me and glared at the surroundings with a threatening “shaa” sound.
For some reason, everyone around us was smiling.
And on top of that, their warm gazes pierced through me, making me feel embarrassed.
“Yuuka-chan, is your fever gone already?” (Kaori)
Kaori-chan stroked Yuuka-chan’s head.
“My fever’s down, so I’m fine.” (Yuuka)
Yuuka looked very comfortable being petted by Kaori-chan.
“By the way, why is Yuuka-chan so on edge with everyone?” (Kouhei)
Kouhei seemed surprised by Yuuka’s alert posture.
“Actually, yesterday this letter was put in my shoe locker, and after seeing it, Yuuka started being really cautious.” (Yuuto)
I showed the letter to Kouhei as I said that.
After reading it…
“Whoa, this really does seem like a love letter.” (Kouhei)
The moment Yuuka heard the word love letter from Kouhei, she clung to my back.
Then she kept scanning the surroundings warily.
It was getting a bit too much, so I asked Kouhei to help peel Yuuka off my back.
While Kouhei was peeling her off me, Yuuka flailed and struggled.
I sat down in my chair.
When I looked Yuuka in the eyes, she stopped thrashing.
Then I held out my arms.
“Yuuka, come here—” (Yuuto)
The moment her feet touched the ground, Yuuka ran straight toward me and hugged me tightly from the front.
Yuuka looked so happy that I could even hear her purring like a cat.
When I looked at her, I felt like I could see a tail and cat ears appearing from a hallucination.
“Yuuka-chan, you’re like a little kitten.” (Kaori)
“I’m Yuuto’s little kitten, nya~” (Yuuka)
Yuuka replied, striking a cat pose toward me.
She was so cute that I instinctively looked away, but Yuuka grabbed my face and turned it to face her.
“Yuuka, why are you holding my face like that?” (Yuuto)
“If I show this to the person who sent the letter, it’ll act as a warning.” (Yuuka)
Yuuka replied cheerfully with a smile.
“You two are always flirting, so I wonder if anyone would still try to interfere.” (Kaori)
It seemed her quiet muttering didn’t reach our ears.
And just like that, we kept flirting until the homeroom teacher finally scolded us, saying, “Enough already, you dumb couple.”
At last, the school day ended, and it was after school.
