CFD – Chapter 8 – Increased Viewers

Today is Sunday, the day after I met Azami in the dungeon, and I am currently standing at the entrance of the same dungeon as yesterday.

As usual, I take out my camera from my bag, leaving the bag open as I slung it on my back.

I turned on the camera drone and it starts floating in the air. Then, I reached out for my smartphone and tried to start the live stream.

But I notice that something strange happened to my subscriber count on my channel.

The number of subscribers, which was in the single digits, had become five digits. It was in the tens of thousands. Is this some kind of bug?

While having doubts, I decided to start the live stream anyways and called out to Rinnea.

Immediately after the live stream started, comments start pouring in. It was the usual viewers. They must have been waiting in anticipation since I always start my live streams at the same time every weekend.

I thought they would be confused, but it looks like the situation doesn’t bother them at all.

『You have gained a lot of subscribers at once. Please show everyone your usual aura as a king.』

“I’m not sure about having an aura of a king, but I’ll be streaming as usual today, so thank you for your support.” (Yotsuka)

We exchange the usual greetings.

“By the way, why did the number of subscribers suddenly increase like that? Is it because of a bug on the website?” (Yotsuka)

“What happened?” (Rinnea)

“The number of subscribers on the channel suddenly increased all at once.” (Yotsuka)

“Heh~ That’s great!” (Rinnea)

Rinnea peered at the screen and joined the conversation.

As she did, a new comment was posted. Before we knew it, the number of viewers had reached an unprecedented number.

『Nice to meet you!』

『Nice to meet you~』

『That fairy is so cute!』

『The reason why the number of viewers has increased is because of yesterday’s incident.』

『Thank you for helping Azami-chan and Hikari-chan yesterday. You are our benefactor.』

『Today, I will be studying this stream as a fellow summoner!』

『May I ask a question?』

『What is your relationship with Azami-chan?』

“Wow~, we’re getting so many comments. Even though our live streams used to be so unpopular.” (Rinnea)

Rinnea opens her eyes wide, then turns to face the camera and waves her hand. She doesn’t seem to mind the extra attention.

However, the cause seems to be yesterday’s incident. Thinking about it now, it makes sense. Although I didn’t confirm it clearly, cameras were flying around Azami and the others, and it seems that everything was being streamed. Azami did not mention anything to the viewers, so I thought that the broadcast was interrupted before the gruesome clip was captured, but it seems that was not the case.

Still, it’s amazing that they managed to find this channel.

“Hi, I’m Rinnea the fairy desu~!¹” (Rinnea)

『Hello~!』

『So cute!』

『I wish I was born as a summoner.』

『Fairies are so nice. If you could call them, dungeon exploration would become much more glamorous.』

Rinnea seems to enjoy talking to the increased number of viewers.

『Is she a unique summon?』

“That’s right~ I’m exclusive to Yotsuka.” (Rinnea)

A unique summon refers to a summoning that calls upon a specific individual within a particular species. Rinnea, who wanted to have a long-term partnership with an individual, was approached and as a result, whenever I call upon a fairy, Rinnea will always appear first.

“Um, Azami-san is a classmate from high school. As for the summoners who are watching… well, if you think my stream will be helpful, then feel free to watch as much as you want. As for questions… we’re going to explore a dungeon now, so please ask after we’re done. If you’re short on time, you can ask on my Shouter² account and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability.” (Yotsuka)

Since it’s not possible to chat leisurely at the entrance of the dungeon, Q&A will be postponed for later. However, it’s likely that most of the viewers just came to take a look at the person who saved their favorite streamer. Most of the viewers will probably disappear soon.

“Alright, let’s go, Rinnea.” (Yotsuka)

“Okay~! Then, I’m going back to my scouting job.” (Rinnea)

Rinnea waves to the camera and slowly flies into the dungeon.

“I generally don’t read comments and explore monotonously, so it might be boring, but thank you for tuning in. With that said…” (Yotsuka)

I briefly addressed this to the new viewers before putting my smartphone back into my pocket. Then, I turned toward the direction Rinnea headed and followed her.

Although it’s a bit nerve-wracking to be watched by so many people, I remind myself that if I don’t read the comments, it’s the same as if they weren’t there at all.

I have to stay focused.

After all, it’s possible to lose your life at any moment when exploring dungeons.

Damn, I almost missed the desu by Rinnea (important). Well I think part of my job is to try and convey the cuteness of a character and that aspect seems to get lost during MTL.

The world about to see the real deal in the next couple of chapters.

I released 2 chapters cause I felt that the previous chapter was kinda short. I won’t be posting again until next week cause I got a bunch of school assignments due this week (yay procrastination). Sorry!
